More Ways to Start

Glass Options

VELUX skylights are built with high-performance glass designed to deliver comfort, clarity, and confidence. We offer a variety of glass options for homes in high-impact zones and regions with heavy snowfall, as well as high-quality glass options for commercial spaces.

Standard Safety Glass

Our Standard Safety Glass is cleaner, quieter, and safer than any skylight glass on the market. That's why it comes standard on all VELUX Skylight Systems.

Laminated Glass

For utmost safety and compliance for out-of-reach applications, Standard Safety Glass is laminated and undergoes regular, rigorous testing to ensure its strength against the elements.

Reduced Spotting

Silicon dioxide makes the glass exceptionally smooth, allowing water to disperse evenly and evaporate quickly, greatly reducing water spotting.

Minimizes Outside Noise

Standard Safety Glass is double-paned with an argon fill to help reduce more unwanted outside noise than standard double-pane glass and more than plastic skylights.

More Glass Options

Our other glass options are designed to meet specific climate, property, and performance needs without compromising on daylight or comfort.

    • Our toughest glass, Impact Glass is very resistant to penetration from flying debris. Perfect for areas prone to large storms, Impact meets the requirements for wind-borne debris protection of the International Building Code Commercial (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), and the Florida Building Code.

For your roughest, toughest projects, Impact Glass is your safest bet.

      Available for:

      • Solar-Powered Fresh Air Skylight Systems (VSS, VCS)
      • Electric Fresh Air Skylight Systems (VSE, VCE)
      • Manual Fresh Air Skylight Systems (VS, VCM)
      • Fixed Skylight Systems (FS, FCM, QPF)
    • Often used in commercial projects, our White Laminated Glass is made up of bonded layers to hold the glass together should it ever break. But don't worry: just like all our other types of glass, White Laminated is put through regular, rigorous testing to ensure it can withstand more than a few tough hits.

White Laminated Glass gets its name from its white coating, which diffuses 100% of the light flowing into the space below.

      Available for:

      • Electric Fresh Air Skylight Systems (VSE, VCE)
      • Manual Fresh Ai Skylight Systems (VS, VCM)
      • Fixed Skylight Systems (FCM, QPF)
    • For climates that experience heavy amounts of snowfall on a regular basis, VELUX has our Snowload Glass to utilize in skylights. Snowload Glass is reinforced to ensure the skylight can support the added weight from accumulated snow. And, as with every VELUX Skylight, is built to prevent leakage of any kind.

      Available for:

      • Electric Fresh Air Skylight Systems (VSE, VCE)
      • Manual Fresh Air Skylight Systems (VS, VCM)
      • Fixed Skylight Systems (FS, FCM, QPF)
    • When describing the qualities of Tempered glass, we typically compare it to the side windows in a car. When the glass is broken, it breaks into small pieces due to the additional degree of hardness of the glass.

      Available for:

      • Manual Fresh Air Skylight Systems (VCM)
      • Fixed Skylight Systems (FCM, QPF)
